Have You Found Your First Wrinkle Yet?

I bet that the first wrinkle you ever spotted on your face was either under your eyes or around the outer corner of your eyes! If you are still young enough not to have any wrinkles at all, stay with me because I am going to tell you why you need to take care of this very delicate area of your face – and if you already have a wrinkle or two (or more), what you can do about them!

The area around our eyes is so fragile, and the skin much thinner than on other areas of our face. So, this is the first area to show the signs of aging in almost everyone, men and women, no-one is immune! The skin begins to sag, under-eye bags become evident, tiny capillaries under the skin get ruptured, giving the skin a bluish tinge, making us look tired and a lot older than we probably still feel on the inside!

Luckily for us, skin care manufacturers have some really effective products that we can buy over the counter.

Eye Treatment Products Work in Four Main Ways

1.    They minimize existing wrinkles and fine lines
2.    They improve the structure and elasticity of the skin, helping to prevent wrinkles from forming and helping to avoid eye bags or minimize the appearance of existing ones.
3.    They minimize puffiness, helping us to look more bright-eyed and wide awake
4.    They treat existing dark circles and help to improve skin structure so that they are less apparent.

These treatment products are especially formulated for the skin around the eyes. People who have used intensive moisturizers, designed for other areas of the face, sometimes have problems with the appearance of milia or whiteheads in the under eye area which are often caused by using too rich a product on this delicate skin area. If possible, these are best avoided as they are not so easy to get rid of.

If you already have wrinkles under or around your eyes, there are products designed to work while you sleep. These intensive, night-time treatments should be used in conjunction with a good day-time eye cream. They are not really suitable for wearing in the day because they are so rich that eye makeup will probably not stay put whilst you are wearing them and they do not contain sunscreens either.

If you are young enough (or lucky enough) not to have developed under eye wrinkles yet, it is a very good idea to start protecting yourself before the damage is done as no matter how good an eye cream you choose, they can never completely erase the lines of time! Protect yourself with a daily moisturizing eye cream as well as your normal facial moisturizer. Make sure the products you choose contain a good sunscreen and that they are suitable for your skin type and age.

Tips For Applying Eye Cream

When you are applying an eye cream, always follow the directions on the pack and avoid getting any of the product into your eyes. Eye cream should be dotted around the eye and then patted into the skin using only the pad of the fingertip of your ring finger to avoid pulling or stretching the skin. Work from the inside corner out and be sure to let the cream soak into your skin for a moment before applying your normal face moisturizer followed by any makeup you wear during the day.

When you go out in the sun, make sure to wear good quality sunglasses with both UVA and UVB protection and you could also wear a hat with a wide brim to further shade your eyes. Taking steps to prevent under eye wrinkles is very important but even if you have lines already, there are many excellent products on the market that will help you to turn back time once again! Just remember, that once you have found a product that you like and which suits your skin, to use it regularly as the very best results are achieved by regular use over time.
