The last one year or so has given Sprint users a real delectable choice when it comes to choosing a smartphone. Both Android and iOS are up for grabs with this carrier and though the choice used to be limited to just Samsung and Apple only some months ago, now HTC puts up a formidable fight. And those who opt for this phone have no choice but to become Sprint users since no other carrier is hosting it as of yet.
AT&T and Verizon both support the iPhone but only Verizon supports the Samsung Galaxy Nexus as well. Users are hopeful that eventually all sets will be available with all carriers but till then it’s the Sprint users who get to ‘sprint’ ahead of the rest when it comes to selection. But let’s contrast some crucial features so you can decide which ones the better phone for you:
1.Price. The HTC and iPhone are both available at the same price of $199 whereas the Galaxy comes for a hundred dollars more. So if you’re budget conscience, you can cross Samsung off your list. However, if you are a diehard Android fan then Samsung can give you the best experience with the Ice Cream Sandwich, so you may consider that a good buy nonetheless.
2.Display. For all those who like a large display and even larger set, the iPhone doesn’t stand a chance next to its contenders boasting a 3.5 inch screen versus HTC’s 4.7 and Samsung’s 4.65 inch displays. If you like thin sets which are light in weight too then HTC deserves some space in your pocket.
3.Design. The iPhone has a classic yet simple design. Conventional users may find that comforting if nothing else. The Samsung Android is better for those who feel they need to take their devices to work and show some professional flare. The design of the HTC is louder and may be unsavory for some since it’s an amalgam of both plastic and a soft-touch married together by a red metallic strip. It may appeal to the younger generation but older users perhaps not so much.
4.Memory. The HTC provides minimum built in memory of 16 GB, half of iPhone and a quarter of what Samsung has to offer. However, the HTC is the only one that offers any external memory and that too of up to 32 GB via a microSD card. Doesn’t sound all that exciting when you recall that there is no internal memory to boost the memory as it is.
5.OS and Firmware. The iPhone obviously runs the iOS and we are all well aware by now what that means in terms of security. The Samsung phone operates on Android and is therefore highly susceptible to malware, virus, or Samsung galaxy nexus spy attack such as a keylogger so do keep that in mind when assessing the OS’s of the phones. Though HTC also uses the Android OS, it also offers Sense. So those who have tried and tested the others can take the third way out if they feel like throwing a little caution to the wind or changing their User Interface.
6.Battery. For those who just don’t have the patience or time for charging their sets, then HTC has the best battery life with Samsung coming in second and iOS last.
Overall, putting a few things aside, HTC seems to come out one of the best options for Sprint in terms of being a good set. Sprint never had so many options as before, but there is one major drawback for opting this set: the Sprint 4G LTE network has yet to go live. So if you find that off putting then the HTC won’t hold your interest.
