The Beginners Guide To Reiki

What Is Reiki?
Reiki is based on the idea that there is a higher power or force at work in the world. Whilst this concept leads many people to believe that Reiki is some form of religion; this is not the case. Reiki acknowledges the presence of a higher power, but does not aim to identify or associate the higher power with some type of god. The origin of Reiki is somewhat unknown, however many consider it to be created by a Buddhist monk in Japan in the 1920’s.

How Does It Work?
For Reiki to work, the practitioner will normally tune into a life force of energy and channel it into another person through the palms of their hands. However there are theories on advanced Reiki that involve distant healing that takes place using the mind alone.

Reiki works on the understanding that there is an unseen life force travelling throughout your body. This force travels through your organs and to your cells, and you are even surrounded by an aura of this energy. It is considered that everyone has different amounts of this energy, and the amount directly influences your wellbeing and general happiness in life.

How Can Reiki Help?
Reiki’s healing can help you in all walks of life, it is considered to aid physically, mentally and spiritually. When tired, it can help you feel awake, when upset, it can make you feel happier, when scared, it can help you feel brave. Many even consider it capable of helping cure a variety of diseases, illnesses and other areas such as the following:

  • Heart Failure
  • Brain damage
  • Cancer
  • Aids
  • Issues such as ADHD and autism
  • Stress

Healing Others With Reiki
The power to transfer this positive life energy is accessible by everyone, you require no experience and you are not required to be a member of a certain religion or belief. The only requirement is an open mind, a belief in a higher power and enthusiasm to access that power. To get trained in the art of Reiki, you simply need to get in contact with a Reiki master, find out when the next training lesson is and attend it. You need to be attuned in order to transfer positive life energy to others. And in order for this to happen, it is essential that you attend a course with a Reiki master- after which you will be granted the ability to heal other. Attunements normally take roughly a day to complete and allow practitioners to tap into an unlimited amount of the life force energy in order to transfer it to other people.

There are three levels of Reiki, each with varying skills capable of different things.  The first level requires the master to be physically close to the patient in order to heal them. The second level actually allows the master to perform Reiki over long distances. The patient could be halfway across the world and still feel the effects of it. The final level allows the master to teach the previous two levels to others.
