Going on the right kind of themed cruise can be one of the best decisions you will ever make. All themed cruises offer a chance to indulge in a special interest of yours with other people who share your passion.  If you prefer to travel solo, it is also a great opportunity to meet new people as you are automatically part of a group. Besides, there are plenty of themes on the market that are not nearly as niche as a nudist or psychic cruise, and they can be great fun for everyone.

Here are some of the highlights to come in 2013:

For the food lovers:

In the spring of 2013, the Celebrity Constellation will set sail for Top Chef: The Cruise.  Onboard the cruise ship operated by Celebrity Cruises you will find eight participants from the hit TV show Top Chef. The cruise will sail a round trip from Miami and will include interactive cooking challenges, special Top Chef menus, cooking demonstrations and Q&A sessions – a gem for all fans of cooking shows and food in general.

For the Clue junkies:

Did you ever want to be Poirot or Sherlock Holmes? Or are you just a fan of mystery and intrigue with a comic twist?  The annual Murder Mystery Whodunit Cruise sets out from Los Angeles for Mexico, and offers you the chance to spend three days solving a comedic murder mystery.  The cruise is Halloween-themed and you will be given characters with roles to act out.  Throughout the cruise, actors will mingle with guests, slipping you riddles and clues and arranging secret rendezvous.  The theme also offers more than enough time for some relaxation as well, or you could live out a secret detective or spy fantasy on the fringes of the game.  There will even be a winning sleuth announced on the final eve of the cruise.

For the hipsters:

If you’ve ever wanted to go to the Coachella festival to hear the music, see a Tupac hologram or bump into a celebrity or five, but can’t really stand the filth and possibly bad weather conditions, never fear. You can now enjoy the festival in the sunny Caribbean on board the Celebrity Silhouette. These successful cruises took place in December, and almost two dozen singers and bands were scheduled to appear during the two departures of the cruise (one to the Bahamas and one to Jamaica).  Shows were performed in several venues onboard the boat, so there is always plenty to experience. Headliners even performed more than once so all attendees got the opportunity to see them live!  The S.S. Coachella is definitely a cruise to look forward to next December.
